Woohoo! Some Rules!

Hey folks! Season's Greetings, Blessed Yule, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, or whatever works for you!

I've just uploaded the first forty pages of the core rules. This covers Ability Checks, Actions, Mettle & Dread, Influence, Connections, Social Conflict, Injury & Healing, Medical Technology, and Combat. What it doesn't include (yet) are the rules for travel, space and vehicle combat, drones, hacking and programming, AI, and other peripheral stuff such as drugs.

Please remember, this is still a work in progress. There are many TODOs. The text still needs tightening up. Rules are subject to change, stuff is probably imbalanced and broken, and so on. Caveat emptor.

However, this should give you an idea of how things work alongside the Character rules that are already uploaded.

Moving Into 2023

I'll be honest, 2022 was a shit year for me. When I wasn't dealing with the deaths of family and friends, the sun was doing its best to kill anyone that went outside.

I'm moving towards 2023 with positivity. Also with, however, caution. I was at a gig earlier this month and during the three-hour set, the band's frontman said (and I only loosely paraphrase) "We are living in strange fucking times. We live in a world where, for the first time, we have no idea what things will be like two years from now." I'd argue you could switch "years" for "months".

We're living in a world that is changing. We're going to need to adapt. I hope that the things I write about in Perihelion never come true. That my kids never see a planet that is both figuratively and literally on fire. But between politicians (on BOTH sides) sitting idly by, countries and corporations trading carbon credits (as if that's going to make a difference), and the apathy of a society that places value on likes, and little on action, I am not hopeful.

2023 I will take more action, not just in my writing. Trans Rights are Human Rights. Black Lives Matter. Climate Change is Real. Vaccines Work. My writing is unashamedly political and I'm okay with that, but in 2023 I need to do something more than write words. I need to speak up more, speak out more. Use my voice. Be heard. Take action.
