I'm Still Standing
You see, this is why I'd never crowdfund an incomplete project: you never know what life is going to throw at you.
The last year has been difficult, with family illness, kids doing exams, kids leaving for university and, in the biggest news, my wife and I selling our house in England and moving north. Far, far north. To Shetland. We're now settled on an island, not far from the capital of Lerwick, in a wonderful community of makers, crafters, knitters, photographers, historians, crofters, and much, much more. There were lots of reasons behind the move, but essentially we've been looking to downside and "semi-retire". I'm still working full time. and have a very understanding boss, but the idea is to slow down and simplify our lives.
What does that mean for Perihelion? Well, hopefully I'll have the headspace and time to continue to work on it. I mean, that's why I'm writing this update. It's, frankly, been an unstoppable onslaught of a year, starting last October and just not letting up. But we've found a place where we can settle and focus and be more creative.
If you're reading this, and still following progress, thank you for your patience and your understanding! As the long nights draw in (yes, we're now at 60 degrees north, so we're looking at 18 hours of dusk and darkness, soon) I'll continue with the project. It was always a thing I wanted to do in my time, at my pace (for obvious reasons!)
Besides, I hate seeing Perihelion's timeline actually occurring, so I gotta get it finished before the fiction becomes reality. 🫤
